Labor Law Tip of the Day:
In the event you are unexpectedly terminated do not negotiate anything except the following (in the event you are asked to leave immediately). Say this:
I do not wish to leave the premises now. I wish to return to my office and represent that I am continuing at the company. I understand I am no longer employed by the company, but I would like the use of my office for at least the next two weeks. It will be significantly easier for both parties to negotiate a severance agreement if I retain the use of my office.
Remember: Stay cool. Stay calm. And remember - now you are equals.
